General information about the Center of excellence

CoE - logo-smallFollowing domestic and international selection and evaluation procedure, on the 10th of November 2014, the assembly of the National Committee for Science, High Education and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia has proclaimed the founding of the Scientific Center for Excellence in Viral Immunology and Development of Vaccines. Center’s activities are coordinated by professor Stipan Jonjić, Head of the Department for Histology and Embryology and Center for Proteomics of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka. Activities of the Scientific Center for Excellence in Viral Immunology and Development of New Vaccines will be conducted by distinguished scientists working in three internationally recognized institutions in the Republic of Croatia: Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka (MEDRI), Center for Research and Knowledge Transfer in Biotechnology, University of Zagreb (UNIZG Biotech) and University Hospital for Infectious Diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević” (UHID). Sections Research and Work Packages contain more detailed information regarding the scientific interests of this Center, such as the investigation of the interplay between the viruses and immune system, design of the improved and efficient vaccines and vectors for prevention and treatment of various infectious diseases and tumors. Scientific activities of the Center are coordinated by the Scientific and Advisory Board, and the roles and responsibilities of all participants, governance structure, communication plan, financial management and IPRs are defined in the Collaboration Agreement.
